We've had two nights at home with Paige and so far she is sleeping good at night. One night she was up once during the night and the other she was up twice. Today we visited the pediatrician's office this morning for Paige's first checkup. Like with every other child, the main question on our mind was how high would Paige's bilirubin level be (when we left the hospital it was in the 8s). Tyler was our first child to be placed on the bilirubin bed. Claire's levels were borderline at this age and she needed her levels checked everyday until we were in the clear. Grace, however, managed to avoid being watched at all and was only slightly jaundiced. Paige, on the other hand, had a level in the 18s this morning, so we left the pediatrician's office waiting for the home health care nurse to deliver Paige's bili-bed.
The bed arrived around noon, so the drill from now until Paige's levels drop below 15 is to keep her on the bed and only get her off to feed her and change her diaper.
