For the last year, we have tried to grow out Grace's bangs multiple times. And always after a few weeks, we ended up cutting them. Right before Christmas, we decided to try again and this time it has actually stuck. It's probably been about 2 1/2 months since we last cut Grace's bangs, and she has surprisingly done quite well keeping her hair out her face. As of today, her bangs now reach the tip of her nose, so we're slowly but surely getting there.
I feel for you. Leah never had bangs but when she finally grew hair it grew straight forward. It wouldn't part or go back - so we fought with it for a long time. I'd pull the top part of her hair back and to the side into a teeny ponytail to keep [most of] it out of her eyes.
